The Impact of Technology Integration on the Educational System
Integrating technology into the educational system has numerous benefits for educator and student alike. Take the SMART Board. Before its advent, the educator was limited to a single writing utensil, an eraser, and a board upon which to write. Now videos, presentations, pictures, and all sorts of other learning tools can be shown to the students without having to pause the lesson to pull out a new instructional tool such as a television. Beyond this, the educator doesn’t have to erase everything written when the board becomes full; rather, previously written material can be saved and referred to later, also saving enormous amounts of time.
Beyond the SMART Board, new instructional technologies also bring the internet into the classroom. If a student asks a question that an educator might not have an answer to, he need not resort to flipping through the textbook or shrugging his shoulders but can do a quick Google search on the topic and find an almost immediate answer. New technologies such as laptops and tablets also make interactive learning between educator and student much easier. In addition, new methods for bringing auditory, kinesthetic, and visual types of material into the classroom are possible. This means that students of all different learning styles can now feel more welcomed within the classroom.
